The High School Spring Musical this year was "Thoroughly Modern Millie".
I always loved the movie version with Julia Andrews, Mary Tyler Moore, and Carol Channing, so we watched the movie together as a family via Netflix.
To my disappointment, the kids were not impressed, in fact, they thought the whole thing was a little wacked! But luckily, Breck still wanted to tryout for the play anyway.
The play version was quite a bit different from the movie version, but all of the kids did a fabulous job!
Breck got the part of "The Letch". I really don't know who Letch was since he was never in the movie version . . .
but Breck had a lot of fun playing his part because he got to sing and dance with Maddie Hughs who played Millie,
and sing and dance with the other members of the chorus.
And it just so happened that this mysterious Letch also showed up in a bunch of other scenes in the play as well.
Here, Breck uhhhh...I mean Letch, is right in his element, surrounded by beautiful, intelligent girls.
I believe this is the only scene where Letch spoke, and what an important line it was..."I think you missed a spot" or something profound like that. Obviously Letch was not known for his way with words, but he sure knew how to have a good time.
This was a touching moment in the play, and I think Lucas Southworth (one of Breck and Aubrey's good friends) did a great job!
This was one of the last scenes Breck was in. I know it is always a bitter-sweet experience when the play comes to an end because the cast members spend so much together and really bond.
But it is also nice getting your life back, and actually getting something done, like homework and chores (o.k. so it was nice for me when the play ended).
Here are some of our lovely spectators, who really enjoyed watching the play...
as you can tell from the expressions on their faces!
