Proms

Scott County High School Prom

Merinda's main "date" to the high school Prom this year was her good friend Laura, who she works with at Chick-fil-a, since no guys asked them, or were available to go.
However, at the last minuet, Phillip (also from CFA) went with Laura because her dress was too poofy for her to drive (and Merinda doesn't have her license yet).
So that she wouldn't feel like the third wheel, Merinda asked Austin Holt, the morning of Prom, if he would be her date for pictures and dinner (he was off the hook for the dance because she didn't have a ticket for him, and she would hang with all her other friends there anyway). Austin was a "lifesaver" when he said "yes"!
Before they went to dinner, the Mom's met the kids at Midway College where we all took pictures of them with our phones.
Luckily, the rain held off so that my i-phone could take some pretty darn good pics, if I do say so myself!
Midway College has such a beautiful campus, and we didn't want to take pictures at the Japanese Gardens in Georgetown because we knew everyone would be taking pictures there!
Laura doesn't go to Merinda's high school, but they've become great friends through Chik-fil-a.
Austin and Phillip were very good sports, and at least they got a great meal out of it! After pictures the kids met a few other friends from CFA, and got right in at Carrabba's Italian Grill, in Lexington.
My favorite picture of Merinda and Austin.

Church Prom

I'm calling it "Church" Prom since I can no longer say "Mormon" Prom (not sure what it's going to be referred to now).
Anyway, Merinda asked Jacob, another co-worker from CFA (do you see a pattern?) if he would go to Church Prom with her.
He said "yes" and went out and bought a new pink shirt to match Merinda's pink dress.
All of these pictures were taken by one of the Moms from Church who does photography on the side.
Once again the rain held off as pictures were taken at Evan's Orchard Georgetown.
The girls were totally tough in their dresses, but you can see by Jacob's body language just how freezing it was!
There was a large group of youth from church (and their dates) who took pictures and then ate together, at the Georgetown church building.
Above is Braden (I don't know the name of his date), Bella, and Luke.
CJ and Kyrstin. CJ's mom coordinated rides for all of the kids and their dates to the dance, which was in Louisville.
Nikara and her co-worker from Fazoli's.
 Austin and Camryn
Julianna and Caitlynn. Caitlynn's parents made dinner for all of the kids, which was suuupper nice of them!
Merinda and Jacob rode with Liz (Merinda's very good friend) and her date Kaiden, both from Georgetown Ward.
 The whole group
Like Jacob, many of the kid's dates weren't members of the church, so Church Prom was a different experience for them, but they were all good sports.
 All the girls
All the guys

Jacob twirling Merinda around until she was completely dizzy. Merinda had a great time at Church Prom, and unlike high school Prom, the pictures, dinner, and dance, cost her absolutely nothing! Not too shabby for a nice night out on the town! I just can't thank all the Mom's enough, who provided everything, free of charge, to make this such a special night for our kids!!!
