Tis The Season For: Christmas Parties & Celebrations

For Brad's Company Christmas Party we drove to Detroit, MI and dined at the Roma Cafe - the oldest Italian Restaurant in Detroit. Above is Brad's new boss making a toast.
We stayed overnight at the elegant Dearborn Inn - one of oldest hotels in Detroit (do you sense a theme?).
The Dearborn Inn was built on a 23-acre site.
The hotel was the world's first airport hotel designed by Albert Kahn, at the request of Henry Ford, who thought passengers arriving by plane to Ford Field, needed a place to stay.
The hotel opened in 1931 and was located across from Ford Airport. The airport later closed and was replaced by the Ford Motor Company test track.
Today, located  across the street from the hotel, are Ford Motor Company design and research facilities, and Henry Ford Museum. Greenfield Village historic park is located less than a half mile down the road.
Henry Ford came up with many of his own design ideas for the Inn. His portrait hangs over the fireplace in the main lobby.
Dearborn Inn's beautiful lobby and reception area.
This giant candy land was located in lobby. On the back wall you can see a portrait of Ford's wife, Clara Bryant Ford.
Gingerbread castle and candy cane land for the side view.
 Lollipop woods and back view.
Gingerbread cottage and gumdrop island for the other side.
Grand Christmas tree in the corner of the main lobby.
The Ten Eyck Tavern, or hotel bar, was named after Dearborn's first tavern and inn built in 1826.
Another classy Christmas tree in the conference wing's lobby down the hall from the Inn's restaurant. The restaurant is named Edison's, after Thomas Edison, Henry Ford's closest friend.
Conference wing hall with ornate chandeliers and more Christmas trees.
Each ground floor room and hallway were adorned with Christmas decorations and Christmas trees.
Our room was very period, and large and spacious but cozy at the same time. So, I guess you can see the highlight of the company party for me our stay at the historic hotel, which Brad knew I would appreciate, and the reason he was willing to fit the expensive bill!
This was as close as I got to going to my boss's Mary, and her husband Chris's house for my company party. This was the Christmas activity I was most looking forward to. I bought great gifts, made my favorite treats and appetizers, and even had Merinda pick out my outfit, only to miss the entire party due to Brad's airplane being delayed. Instead of celebrating with my favorite people, I sat in the Cincinnati airport for five hours (story of my life!).
Brittney all ready to go to her Christmas parties in a tacky Christmas sweater (I personally think it is cute - shoulder pads and all!).
Brittney's company celebration. Everyone is sporting emoji hats they got as a gift from one of their coworkers. Brittney got the poop emoji hat (of course).
Merinda in her festive Christmas sweater (that she actually stole from her brother's closet), and elf slippers with bells.
Other kids from ECS who also had Christmas spirit!
