Breck & Iris Get Engaged!

During Christmas break Iris came and stayed with us for a week before flying back with Breck to Utah and BYU-I.
We all had a great time with Iris, and it was very nice to get to know her a little better.
For a Christmas gift for Iris, Brittney and I put together a "Breck survival kit" full of all the essentials for making it through life with Breck.
Even though we know the two were "mint" to be together.
Also, during the break, Brad and I took a short trip to Virginia to meet Iris' mother (whom Iris is named after) and stepfather.
We also met Iris' father and his girlfriend. We had a very nice visit with all of them!

While in Virginia, Breck asked Iris' father and step-father, for Iris' hand in marriage.
So a day after we returned home, on New Year's Eve day, Breck asked Iris to marry him.
Since Breck and Iris set their date for a couple weeks after school ends, they needed to get engagement pictures done while in Kentucky. So who do you ask to take your engagement pictures the day after New Years, in the freezing cold, with absolutely no notice? Yep! Veronica Holt! And this time (yes, it's not the first time she's come to our rescue!) she brought her trusty assistant, Rex.
Reenacting the proposal in an old barn, at the Japanese Gardens, in Georgetown, KY.
She said "Yes!" (again)
Veronica and Rex were so nice to take a million pictures for the kids to choose from, but here are some of my favs ...

We just can't thank Rex and Veronica enough for taking time out of their busy lives to help us out!

We are so happy for Breck & Iris! We are excited for them to learn and grow together, and to begin this new adventure called Marriage!
