Goodbye Scott County High School!

We're so proud of Merinda, our last child to graduate high school! She worked hard through high school which is evident by the gold cord around her neck signifying a cumulative GPA of 4.0!
In addition, she was able to hold down a part-time job at Chik-Fil-A! (CFA board recognizing employees graduating from high school).

Bumping into Veronica Holt after Graduation rehearsal.
Merinda's HS graduation was held at the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park in Georgetown, KY. I guess there was an option to lay down flooring but according to Merinda, the school district didn't want to pay the extra cost. Apparently, no one seemed to mind walking on the dirt.
The band playing the graduation march (over and over)
as about 530 graduates walked into the area
 and sat in their seats.
 Merinda walking in,
(I'm going to apologize now for the blow-by-blow pictures and commentary, which usually isn't my thing, but I guess I'm feeling a little sentimental since Merinda is my last child to graduate from high school!)
and making her way to her seat.
Merinda was seated on the end of the row, which was great because I could actually see her,
and take all kinds of creeper pictures.
Merinda's good friend Liz Parrett was also sitting on the end a row, and tbh, she was a little more entertaining to watch!
Pic of all the graduates and the band.
All the graduates and Senior choir members.
All the graduates, teachers, and administrators.
Senior class officers and Grace Lyon (speaking) who got the Service Award (whatever that is).
The choir singing My Old Kentucky Home. Merinda sang in the choir,
and then walked over and played her flute with the band (America the Beautiful) for the last time.
She then walked back to her seat. (Good thing the dirt was so soft to walk on in her high heels)
View from where we were sitting.
Us, having the time of our life!
Friends of Merinda receiving their diplomas (or actually empty diploma cases, the real diplomas  weren't distributed until after graduation was all over)  ... Lauren Allen,
 Nikara Charles,
 Ethan Clayburn,
 and Jacob Conway.
Merinda walking up and getting in line,
 to receive her diploma.
Waiting for the announcer to call her name.
Shaking hands with the Scott County High School principle.
Walking over to the Scott County School District's Superintendent.
Receiving her diploma "case" and getting her picture taken with the Superintendent (which we'll never see because we're too cheap to spend the money).
 Walking off stage,
 and back to her seat.
Presentation of the 2019 SCHS graduates,
changing cap tassel to the other side, and cap toss in the air.
Finding of the caps,
and march out of the arena.
Liz still being her enthusiastic self,
and Merinda being her enthusiastic self!
Since there were too many people at the Horse Park, we took pictures of Merinda in her cap and gown at home.
Our beautiful high school graduate!
(Kids now days have a way of applying makeup so I don't think it was a coincidence that Merinda's lipstick perfectly matched the trim on her gown and diploma holder.
Just as important was Merinda's Seminary graduation! We are very proud of her willingness to wake up extra early for four years, and complete all the necessary reading and requirements with nary a complaint!
