Home Sweet Home

Utah and the Heelis's

Salt Lake City, Utah

Merinda and I talked Mom into driving to SLC and spending a 'girls day out' with us.
It has always been Merinda's dream to visit the high school where High School Musical was filmed.
So our first stop was East High!
Back of East High.
Merinda was giddy with excitement.
(and Mom was a good sport for driving us there and letting us drag her around that very large school!).
The cafeteria where many a scene took place.
Famous school and locker halls.
Sharpay's pink locker is even still there.
And we just couldn't miss seeing the famous auditorium!
It's a little dark because we couldn't find the lights (and after sneaking into the school and auditorium we didn't want to press the issue).
Our next stop was Temple Square.
I still love to stand and gaze at the architecture and beautiy of the Joseph Smith Memorial building (used to be Hotel Utah).
Merinda's favorite part of Temple Square was watching Joseph Smith: The Prophet of the Restoration.

Church Office Building
Family History Library

Conference Center
Every building is something to behold. Add all the colorful foliage and beautiful grounds and Temple Square truly is magnificent.

Assembly Hall

Old Tabernacle

South Visitor Center
 The Christus,

and beautiful murals at the North Visitor Center

Even the large old trees on Temple Square have a life of their own.
And you can never get enough pictures of the Temple itself.
It is breathtaking from every side and angle.
Following in our family tradition, we stopped at Crown Burger for the best burger in the world!
It just doesn't get any better than this!
Mom also treated us to cupcakes from "One Sweet Slice", which were winners from Cupcake Wars. My favorite: the Key Lime Pie cupcake.
